Bristol City have completed the signing of Polish international defender Oliwia Woś on a permanent deal.

The Robins announced the news via a post on their official club website this evening.

The 26-year-old defender moves to Ashton Gate from German Google Pixel Frauen-Bundesliga club 1. FC Nürnberg. Bristol City have paid an undisclosed fee to secure the player’s services. Woś has signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with The Robins.

Woś spent her early years playing in Germany in spells with VfL Bochum, Herforder SV and Arminia Bielefeld before the player moved to Switzerland where she turned out for FC Zürich and FC Basel. The defender joined latest club 1. FC Nürnberg last summer and featured regularly in the first half of this season.

On the international stage, Woś has 28 caps to her name for Poland.

After joining Bristol City, Woś said “I’m really excited to be playing here, it’s always been a dream for me to come to England and when the opportunity came, I didn’t wait long.

“When I read about Mercury 13 and learned all about their movements and what they stand for, I was drawn by inspiration and women empowerment.”

Woś’ arrival at Ashton Gate caps-off a very exciting January transfer window for Bristol City.
