Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes (31) has no intention of joining the Saudi Pro League, despite renewed speculation linking him with a move to the Middle East, BBC Sport reports.
The Portuguese midfielder turned down lucrative offers from Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad last summer and remains fully committed to United’s long-term project under co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Sources close to the player have dismissed rumours suggesting Fernandes could leave after next summer’s World Cup, insisting the 31-year-old is focused solely on competing in Europe’s top leagues.
Fernandes, whose contract runs until 2027 with an option for an additional year, continues to play a pivotal role for United both on and off the pitch. Manager Ruben Amorim has deployed him in a deeper midfield position this season, a tactical shift designed to maximise his influence on the ball. While some critics argue it limits his attacking output, Amorim believes the adjustment has strengthened United’s control in matches.
Having recently scored his 100th goal for the club in his 200th Premier League appearance, Fernandes has further cemented his place among United’s modern greats. Amorim praised his captain’s impact, stating: “That guy deserves to be in the history of our club, not just for what he does, but for what his team conquers.”
