A couple of days ago, Bruno Fernandes’ bombshell revelation came to light.
In an interview, the Manchester United club captain claimed that the club was open to the idea of letting him go last summer.
A conversation with Ruben Amorim and his own family changed the Portuguese superstar’s mind. It has since been clarified that the interview was conducted months in advance, but aired only now.
INEOS were far from pleased with their skipper’s comments, and have reiterated their desire to keep hold of the 31-year-old.
Saudi Pro League sides are expected to come back for the Portugal international, while Bayern Munich are also monitoring proceedings with interest.
The former Sporting CP star also has a release clause of £57 million that foreign clubs can trigger in the summer.
And as per Talksport, the United dressing room feel this might be the United No.8’s final season at Old Trafford.
“Teammates of Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes believe his bombshell interview may be paving the way for his Old Trafford departure.
“The Portuguese international ultimately turned down the lucrative contract on offer, but has a £57million release clause in his contract that foreign clubs can trigger in the summer. German giants Bayern Munich are known to be big admirers of Fernandes.
“Sources have told talkSPORT there is a feeling within the Manchester United dressing room that this season could be Fernandes’ last at the club.
“Fernandes is under contract until 2027 with an extra year’s option but, with the Red Devils planning a revamp of their midfield, selling the 31-year-old would raise vital transfer funds.”
Selling Bruno Fernandes would raise significant funds, but there is hardly a profile in world football who can offer what the club captain has.
He already has five goals and seven assists this season, despite playing in a deeper role. And in his nine years in England, he has registered 10 G/A in each of his league campaigns.
The epitome of consistency, despite the chaos around him, United cannot do without their talisman and INEOS need to do everything in their power to keep him at the Theatre of Dreams.
