Bruno Genesio was appointed on Wednesday, and Marseille will prioritise player sales under DNCG constraints. Pierre-Emile Höjbjerg, Mason Greenwood, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Amine Gouiri could all depart.
According to L'Équipe, the club told the DNCG it plans several sales during 2026-27, yet no exit has been completed, unlike other wage-capped sides. Genesio said he is eager to start and build a squad worthy of the club.
Sporting lead Grégory Lorenzi, aided by predecessor Medhi Benatia, has sent agents a WhatsApp list of players to move. Ulisses Garcia, Amine Harit and Neal Maupay return from loan, with Geoffrey Kondogbia and Aubameyang also named. He wants to avoid terminating contracts.
Aubameyang, who has just turned 37, is available for about €1.5m and has suitors in Türkiye, MLS, Saudi Arabia and Spain. He views Genesio positively, so taking up the second year of his deal remains possible.
To trim salaries and limit Frank McCourt’s intervention, acceptable bids will trigger exits. Lorenzi and Genesio rate Gouiri, but the 26-year-old will be targeted. Höjbjerg is followed in Italy and Türkiye, valued near €10m, though his wages are a hurdle.
Auxerre want Hamed Junior Traoré back after a standout 2024-25. Angel Gomes, back from Wolverhampton after arriving on a free, and long-amortised Leonardo Balerdi could bring profit.
On Greenwood, Fenerbahçe have agreed an eye-catching deal with his lawyer, but their early bids are far below Marseille’s €50m minimum. Roma continue to prioritise the 24-year-old Englishman, and Atlético are expected to move for him.
