Leandro Santos, who debuted under Bruno Lage at Benfica, has seen his proposed move to Vitória de Guimarães fall through. He remains under contract at Benfica.
According to Glorioso 1904, the agreement was set at €500,000 for 50 percent of his rights, with a buy-back option in Benfica’s favour. The structure was designed to protect the club’s interests while monitoring his development away from Seixal.
Before Guimarães’ approach, he had been strongly linked with Alverca. It remains to be seen whether the Ribatejo side revive that interest, and his immediate future is unclear. A loan to secure minutes and experience is possible.
Santos made his first-team bow in a 7-0 Taça de Portugal win over Estrela da Amadora at Estádio da Luz under Bruno Lage. It was a notable moment for the young full-back.
This season he has 13 appearances for Benfica, nine in the Segunda Liga and four in the Elite League U20. Across 893 minutes he has one goal and one assist, and is valued at one million euros.
