Gigi Buffon feels his son Louis Thomas ‘deserved’ to make his senior Pisa debut, but warns him: ’30 minutes in Coppa Italia, don’t make you a footballer and he knows it.’
Louis Thomas Buffon, 17, made his senior Pisa debut on Thursday, coming on as a substitute in a Coppa Italia game against Torino.

“I’m so happy for him. He deserves it for the path he’s taken and the commitment and determination in what he does,” Buffon told Gazzetta.
“Luckily, or unfortunately, 30 minutes in Coppa Italia don’t make you a footballer. He knows it well and he must keep it in his mind.”

Buffon Jr. had made headlines last season as he accepted a call-up from the Czechia U18 squad to which his father, a 2006 Italy World Cup winner, replied by saying that the 17-year-old would take ‘no shortcuts’ in his career.
