Hosts Morocco and 2021 winners Senegal reached the African Cup of Nations semi-finals after defeating Cameroon and Mali. According to BuLi News, both sides will learn their last-four opponents after tomorrow’s games.
Senegal edged Mali, with Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye scoring his first goal of the tournament before the interval. On the stroke of half-time, Mali were reduced to 10 men when Yves Bissouma received a second booking.
Nicolas Jackson was a surprise unused substitute. Former RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara returned to Mali’s XI after a one-game suspension, while Tom Saintfiet’s team went down to 10 men for the third match running. The Lions of Teranga will face Egypt or defending champions Côte d'Ivoire.
Cameroon have a history of upsetting hosts at AFCON, but Walid Regragui’s Morocco kept Christian Kofane and team-mates to efforts off target. Brahim Diaz scored for the fifth match in a row, then Ismael Saibari added a second after the break to seal it.
Morocco have still not conceded a non-penalty goal. Stuttgart’s Bilal El Khannouss played 68 minutes, while Leverkusen’s Eliesse Ben Saghir remained an unused substitute. Algeria or Nigeria await Morocco in the other semi-final.
