Bundesliga: Leverkusen outclass St. Pauli, Tapsoba on target
Bayer Leverkusen secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory on Saturday away at St. Pauli. Burkina Faso international Edmond Tapsoba netted his first goal of the season.
Xabi Alonso’s men broke the deadlock in the 25th minute through Edmond Tapsoba. But the home side responded quickly: Hauke Wahl found the equalizer just seven minutes later (32’). In the second half, young talent Ernest Poku made the difference. His goal in the 58th minute handed Leverkusen all three points and sealed the outcome.
In the standings, Leverkusen continue their strong run (2 wins in 5 matches), while St. Pauli suffer a second consecutive defeat. Coming up: St. Pauli travel to face Werder Bremen on October 4, while Leverkusen host Union Berlin at the BayArena the same day.
