Chelsea will welcome Benfica at Stamford Bridge this Tuesday night as they look to secure all three points at home in the UEFA Champions League. The Blues suffered a disappointing 3-1 defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion recently, so they would be eager to right the wrongs in Europe this week.

Enzo Maresca will opt for the 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make some tweaks to his first XI for this clash. Facundo Buonanotte, Alejandro Garnacho and Romeo Lavia could all play from the start of this game.

Defence

Robert Sanchez will operate in between the sticks for the Blues after he conceded three times in his last outing. Trevoh Chalobah will play alongside Benoit Badiashile at the heart of the Chelsea backline as they look to keep a good shape at the back throughout the game.

Malo Gusto will try to catch the eye at right-back, while Marc Cucurella looks to give a good account of himself on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will have to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack.

Jorrel Hato and Reece James will be named on the bench as they offer cover for the defensive positions.

Midfield

Enzo Fernandez and Romeo Lavia will anchor the midfield for the West London club as they look to make life tough for the opposition at the centre of the park.

The gifted trio of Alejandro Garnacho, Facundo Buonanette and Estevao will play just ahead of them as part of Maresca’s attack. All three of them need to move the ball well in the Benfica half if they want to create some clear-cut chances in the final third.

Moises Caicedo and Andrey Santos will have to settle for a spot on the bench as they wait for their chance to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if needed.

Attack

Joao Pedro will lead the line for the Blues in the final third. He has to find a way to be a constant menace up top.

Pedro Neto, Marc Guiu and Tyrique George will make up the numbers on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the final quarter if required.
