Bureaucracy has stalled Valencia’s move for Kosta Nedeljkovic as an Under-23 for their B team, with talks having progressed between Valencia, Aston Villa and Leipzig.
Valencia examined registering the Serbian with the reserves to bolster the right flank. According to Onda Deportiva, the operation halted due to bureaucracy linked to his country of origin. As the registration was for a non-professional side in Segunda RFEF, the visa process could take around two months.
Nedeljkovic has featured in only six matches for Leipzig since arriving in the summer. Aston Villa are open to ending that loan so he could spend the rest of the season elsewhere.
That scenario opened a pathway for Valencia, provided he arrived as an Under-23 with a B-team registration.
The deal could have been completed if the Mestalla club had a spare registration slot, which by midday on deadline day they did not. Even with a vacancy, a centre-back or a winger remains the priority.
