Burkina Faso: Rahimo FC crowned Super Cup champions
Rahimo FC completed a historic treble after clinching a 1-0 victory in the Burkina Faso Super Cup on Sunday, September 14 at Stade Wobi in Bobo-Dioulasso, overcoming Union Sportive des Forces Armées (USFA). Both teams will represent the Land of Honest Men in the preliminary rounds of the CAF's two leading club competitions.
This final was marked by Rahimo FC's complete dominance. In the first half, they created the best chances, but USFA held firm thanks to a well-organized defense. The first half ended goalless, with neither side able to break the deadlock.
At the start of the second half, USFA coach Amadou Sambo made tactical changes, bringing on defender Faisal Traoré and midfielder Cheick Mohamed Guile, but these moves failed to shift the momentum. In the 52nd minute, Ibrahim Sou seized on a brilliant pass to exploit a gap in the USFA defense. The forward, who had already caught the eye in the first half, weaved past the central defenders with exceptional skill before rounding the goalkeeper to score the match’s only goal.
Rahimo FC claimed every possible title in the 2025 season. After winning both the league and the Burkina Faso Cup, the club—owned by former Burkina Faso international Rahim Ouédraogo—added the Super Cup trophy with a 1-0 win over USFA. This marked the first time the club has managed the major domestic treble in Burkinabé football. In 2019, Bobo-Dioulasso secured the double by winning the league and the national cup.
With this achievement, Moroccan-Burkinabé coach Jamal Benouahi and his young Rahimo FC squad join the elite, becoming only the third club in Burkinabé football history to complete the treble.
Perfect preparation for the CAF Champions League
By winning the 32nd edition of the Super Cup organized by the Association of Sports Journalists of Burkina Faso (AJSB), Rahimo FC heads into the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League brimming with confidence. A new chapter in the club’s history is about to be written, with the challenge kicking off on Saturday, September 20 against AS Mangasport of Gabon, at the Stade du 4 Août in Ouagadougou.
After celebrating their AJSB Super Cup triumph—his first trophy as head coach—Jamal Benouahi described the win as the perfect test ahead of the continental campaign. The Moroccan coach stated: "We will do everything we can to represent Burkinabé football in the best way possible."
