Burnley are set to make a fresh approach for Wales manager Craig Bellamy.

Burnley are still in pursuit of a successor to Scott Parker, who departed the club after their relegation back to the Championship had been confirmed.

The Clarets have been looking to establish themselves back in the Premier League after five years yo-yoing between the top flight and the Championship, but were unable to do so last term.

After a stunning season in 2024-25 which saw them concede just 16 goals, a second tier record, there was some optimism that Burnley could break their spell of promotion followed by instant relegation.

However, it quickly became clear that the squad wasn't strong enough to compete in the top flight, which saw them relegated straight back to the Championship after accumulating just 22 points and four wins in 38 games.

This saw manager Parker leave the club before the season ended, with owner Alan Pace now looking to find a successor for the promotion-winning boss.

A plethora of names have been linked to the vacancy at Turf Moor in recent weeks, which include the likes of Steven Gerrard, Rusell Martin, and Danish coach Kasper Hjulmand.

However, it seems none of those aforementioned managers will be taking the job, as a fresh report from Wales Online suggests Burnley are closing in on the appointment of Wales national team boss Craig Bellamy.

The 46-year-old has been in charge of his home country since July 2024, where he boasts a 40% win rate, with eight wins from 20 games over his tenure thus far.

This has seen interest arise from Burnley, as they look to convince Bellamy to move back to Turf Moor just two years after he left, but this time as the number one.

The Welshman was the Clarets' second in command to Vincent Kompany between 2022 and 2024, and would take on the role with Wales after the Belgian departed for Bayern Munich, opting not to follow him to Germany.

Now, Parker's departure could've paved the way for a sensational return to BB10 for Bellamy, as his former employers are reportedly set to 'ramp up' their pursuit of his services.

According to Wales Online, failure to qualify for this summer's World Cup hit Bellamy hard, which has given Burnley renewed hope of luring him back to Lancashire.

He won't come cheap though, as the Dragons are reportedly looking for around £700,000 in compensation from the Clarets to break his contract which lasts until the conclusion of Euro 2028.

Plenty of Burnley fans took to Twitter once the latest update on Bellamy came out, with many seemingly pleased about his potential appointment as the club's next manager.

One supporter was left unsure about the appointment of Bellamy, but felt he was a better choice than Gerrard.

Another was also in agreement, suggesting they would prefer Bellamy to Gerrard.

Another was skeptical of the appointment despite Bellamy's important role in Kompany's successful set-up, even suggesting that he isn't better than what they already had in Parker.

Another fan was satisfied with the latest development, suggesting they wanted a long-term project manager rather than a quick fix, and Bellamy certainly fits that bill.
