Curtis Jones speaks like a footballer aware of history but grounded in the present. As Liverpool prepare for their trip to Tottenham, there is a feeling of lift around the squad, shaped by results rather than rhetoric. Consecutive wins, clean sheets against Inter and Brighton, and a five match unbeaten run have restored rhythm. Yet Jones is clear that progress needs patience, not prediction.
He told Liverpoolfc.com, “The confidence was always there, I wouldn’t say that it left.” For Jones, belief never disappeared, it simply needed alignment. Talent, effort, and clarity have begun to reconnect, and that connection matters more than headlines. “I would say that the past games show that the connection is there, that we’re starting to gel again as a team with how hard we are working, the goals we’re scoring.”

Liverpool’s recent form has brought energy back to the training ground. Jones acknowledges it, but he also places limits on expectation. “So, yeah, I feel that the buzz is around the place again but at the same time we don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves.” The message is deliberate. Momentum can be fragile, especially in a Premier League season defined by narrow margins.
Jones reflects on a recent dip with clarity rather than frustration. “It was just [about] taking the small steps. That was why we think it’s going wrong, then how we change it.” Incremental fixes, not sweeping statements, have shaped Liverpool’s response. Now, with energy restored, the focus remains narrow. “Let’s just go and win each game that we can but don’t think too far ahead.”
Individually, Curtis Jones arrives at Tottenham in strong rhythm. His 200th appearance against Brighton marked another milestone, and continuity has sharpened his influence. “As long as I’m playing I’m always happy,” he said, emphasising trust from the manager and teammates. That trust is reflected in how Liverpool use the ball.
A recent tactical tweak has shifted responsibility into midfield control. “We’ve obviously made a change that everybody can see where the middle is overloaded with lads that are technically good.” Jones sees this as natural terrain, valuing tempo, calm, and retention. “I feel like that’s a strength of mine, that I can get on the ball, I can calm it down.”
Spurs present an unpredictable challenge, regardless of form. Jones dismisses complacency outright. “It’s still a world-class team,” he said. “I don’t think there is any team in the Prem that you turn up to play and think we’ve got the points.” Liverpool’s approach will centre on work rate and discipline, then quality in possession.
The aim is simple, if not easy. “The most important thing is that we find a way to win and that’s what we’ll go and try to do.” For Curtis Jones and Liverpool, momentum matters, but control matters more.
