Joan Laporta was re-elected as the president of FC Barcelona, and with his return to the top office, he can once again oversee one of the biggest projects of his last tenure: the renovation of Spotify Camp Nou.

The remaining work on the stadium is scheduled to be completed in two years’ time, and Mundo Deportivo has provided an overview of the timeline for the completion of these works.

All three tiers are already structurally in place, and the current plan foresees all stands and VIP areas being fully operational by April 2027. At that point, the stadium will reach full operational capacity, enabling the club to maximize revenue.

According to the current schedule, in the coming months, focus will remain on the Third Tier. Waterproofing work is set to begin shortly, with seat installation planned for the end of the current season.

The Third Lateral Stand is expected to open by September 2026, raising the stadium’s capacity to around 70,000 spectators. By the end of 2026, the Main Stand’s Third Tier and VIP boxes will also be operational.

After the Christmas break, the entire Main Stand will be commercialized at full capacity, combining all tiers and hospitality areas. This will increase the total attendance to approximately 80,000.

The final phase of the stands will focus on the Goal sections, which are scheduled for completion by the end of April 2027. This moment is viewed internally as the turning point of the project, as the stadium will be fully exploitable from an economic standpoint, with only the roof installation remaining.

The roof represents the last major step and comes with logistical challenges. Although initial plans suggested a possible start in May 2027, the decisive phase of the season means work will instead begin in the summer of 2027.

Installation is expected to take around four months, during which no matches can be played at the stadium due to safety and structural requirements. As a result, Barcelona will need to temporarily relocate to an alternative venue at the start of the 2027/28 season.

Despite some caution regarding unforeseen delays, internal and external assessments remain optimistic that the timeline will be met. Once the roof is completed, the 2027/28 campaign will mark the full inauguration of the new Spotify Camp Nou, with the club already considering ideas for a major opening celebration.
