Campeonato Brasileiro Feminino table after first round

The opening round of the Brasileirão Feminino concluded last Monday night (16th). Despite a 1-0 victory over Atlético-MG, Corinthians currently sits in the eighth position on the national competition table.

At the start of the tournament, the standings are marked by balance: the top nine teams are separated by tiebreakers such as goal difference and number of cards. Palmeiras took the lead with a 4-0 win over América-MG. Meanwhile, Ferroviária and América-MG occupy the bottom two spots at the beginning of the championship.

According to the regulations, only the top eight advance to the quarterfinals. Conversely, the two clubs finishing the first phase in the last positions will be relegated to Série A2. The initial stage is played in a single round, with a total of 17 rounds.

The overall campaign is crucial throughout the tournament. The total points, considering all phases, including the knockout stage, determine home advantage in the elimination matches. The benefit goes to the team with the best accumulated performance, a criterion that also impacts the draw for the subsequent phases.

Another relevant factor is the qualification for the 2027 Women's Libertadores. Only the champion and runner-up of the Brasileiro secure a spot in the continental competition. If one of the finalists has already secured a spot by winning the 2026 edition, the place will go to the third-placed team in the overall standings.

Corinthians returns to action next Friday, February 20, at 9:30 PM (Brasília time), when they host Fluminense at the Neo Química Arena for the second round of the competition. In the following round, the Brabas will have a Derby against Palmeiras.
