Campobasso announce Antonio Gala transfer to Castellón then delete post | OneFootball

CD Castellón are in talks to sign 22-year-old Antonio Gala from Serie C club Campobasso after the Italians posted, then deleted, an announcement of his transfer on Tuesday night.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, Castellón have not confirmed the move and the deal remains in progress.

The withdrawn statement said the midfielder would join the Spanish second-tier side and presented the agreement as recognition of Gala's progress last season and the club's effort to increase squad value.

Campobasso did not disclose the fee.

Born in Naples on 7 June 2004, Gala was a standout last term, playing 40 matches and scoring seven goals as Campobasso finished fourth in their group and made the promotion play-offs.

His form attracted interest from Torreense and Casa Pia in Portugal, Go Ahead Eagles and Telstar in the Netherlands, and Switzerland's St. Gallen.

The note also praised his attitude and contribution, and ended with thanks and good wishes to the player.

Both clubs could finalise the agreement on Wednesday.
