CAN 2029–2035: a battle between six nations!

CAN 2029–2035: six candidate countries!
While CAF has yet to make a final decision regarding the hosts for the upcoming editions of the Africa Cup of Nations, an expanded list of candidates is starting to take shape for the 2029–2035 cycle. According to journalist Micky Jnr, several countries have officially declared their interest, while others are still fine-tuning their bids before stepping into the race.
At this stage, five bids are leading the pack: Angola, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Senegal, as well as a joint bid from Mali and Guinea. This diverse lineup reflects a growing ambition across the continent to host Africa’s most prestigious football competition, especially as the development of sports infrastructure has become a strategic priority for many nations.
CAF, for its part, has yet to deliver its verdict. During a recent Executive Committee meeting, the governing body decided to postpone the official awarding of the upcoming tournaments, opting to conduct a more thorough review of the bids and the state of each country’s infrastructure. This move sets the stage for an especially rigorous selection process, particularly as the financial, political, and sporting stakes surrounding AFCON have never been higher.
