MIAMI – The Final Round of the 2026 Concacaf Women’s U-17 Qualifiers continues with the Dominican Republic taking on Canada in Group A on Thursday at Costa Rica Federation Field #2 in Alajuela, Costa Rica.

The Dominican Republic aims for its first win after its dramatic 1-1 draw against El Salvador. Mia Romero scored the equalizer in the fourth minute of stoppage time to secure the point for Las Quisqueyanas.

Canada will seek a second win to solidify its lead in Group A after defeating Nicaragua 5-nil in its tournament opener. A brace from Lacey Kindel, and goals from Gabriela Istocki, Brooklyn Boldt, and Adalyn Fairweather led The Reds to victory.

The result was a historic one for the North Americans, as Canada reached 32 all-time wins, the second-most in Final Round history, and matched its longest winning run with five consecutive victories.

All-Time series

Canada and the Dominican Republic will meet for the second time in the Concacaf Women’s U-17 Championship. Their first encounter came in Group F on April 24, 2022, at Estadio Olímpico Félix Sánchez in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where Canada secured a 10-0 victory. The goals came from an own goal by Adriana Camila Adamés, Rosa Cella Maalouf (4), Renee Toni Watson (2), Amanda Marie Allen (2), and Anna Louise Hauer. To date, it remains the Dominican Republic’s largest defeat by goal margin in any stage of the tournament.

The Dominican Republic has only faced North American teams twice in the Concacaf Women’s U-17 Championship: the 10-0 loss against Canada (April 24, 2022) and against Mexico (May 4, 2022).

Canada has recorded 10 consecutive matches without defeat against Caribbean teams in the Concacaf Women’s U-17 Championship (W-9 D-1), the Canadians’ best streak against Caribbean opposition.
