Carl Robinson is among the leading contenders for the vacant St Mirren job, The Scottish Sun reports.
The 49-year-old made 57 appearances for Sunderland between 2004 and 2006, scoring five goals, and won 52 caps for Wales. He left Western Sydney Wanderers in 2022 and is currently assistant coach at MLS side Atlanta United, while also working in coach education for the Welsh FA.
St Mirren began their search after Stephen Robinson left for Aberdeen earlier this month. They sit 10th with 24 points from 30 games, while Livingston are bottom on 15 and one win, leaving relegation prospects minimal.
The Buddies lifted the Scottish League Cup for only the second time in their history in December, beating Celtic 3-1 at Hampden Park. Robinson is one of several names under consideration, with the report also naming Neil Lennon, Simo Valakari, Gary Naismith, Mark Wilson and former Dundee coach Tony Docherty.
St Mirren face Falkirk away, Aberdeen at home and Celtic away before the Premiership split. They also meet Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final on 18 April, and if appointed Robinson could yet lead the Buddies to further glory.
