Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has this evening dropped a hint regarding his personnel plans for the club’s upcoming showdown with Liverpool.
This comes in the form of the Italian all but confirming that he intends to shake things up at right-back at Anfield.
Real of course marked their return to action on the back of the international break over the weekend.
And, en route to an eventual 3-0 downing of Leganés, it was Federico Valverde who was forced to fill in on the right of Los Blancos’ backline.
This came with both Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vázquez having been unavailable for selection through injury.
The latter has since been given the green light to travel to Merseyside with the rest of the Spanish champions’ squad, albeit with his status to feature from the off having remained up in the air.
All of a Real Madrid persuasion will, in turn, no doubt be interested to hear of Carlo Ancelotti this evening dropping a major hint regarding as much.
During his pre-Liverpool press conference, the Italian tactician was asked if he intends to field Vázquez from the off, or make use of Fede Valverde’s versatility with a 2nd successive appearance at full-back.
And Ancelotti, in his response, appeared to confirm that Vázquez will be back in from the off at Anfield, with Valverde returning to the middle of the park:
“Fede did very well (against Leganés) but that was just an emergency…”
