Carlo Ancelotti responds to criticism from Federico Valverde’s wife | OneFootball

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has spoken out on the jibe aimed in his direction by the wife of star midfielder Federico Valverde.

For those who may have missed it, Mina Bonino turned heads across Spain’s capital on Tuesday night.

This came by way of her response to husband Fede Valverde being hooked at the interval of Real Madrid’s Champions League meeting with AC Milan.

En route to a 3-1 defeat, the Uruguayan, amid an underwhelming display, lasted just 45 minutes.

It has since been revealed that as much came with Valverde having been struggling with a back injury.

This, however, did not stop the 26-year-old’s partner from taking to social media, to direct a message of criticism at the aforementioned Carlo Ancelotti.

In a post on her official ‘X’ account, Mina Bonino wrote:

‘Fede plays best as a pivot… Hahaha when are they going to understand once and *** that Fede is not a winger?’

Speaking to the media post-match, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of as much was put to Real Madrid’s headmaster himself.

Ancelotti, though, was keen to remain diplomatic in his response, explaining:

“Valverde’s wife’s words on X? It’s difficult to give an opinion on what people write on social media. I changed Valverde because he wasn’t 100%.”
