Carlos Augusto insists Inter ‘must always be the favourites’ to win the Scudetto, but confirms they are preparing ‘something different’ for the showdown with Juventus.

The Nerazzurri were named as the most likely candidates to take the Serie A title in 2025-26 by both the CIES and Opta supercomputer statistical analyses, despite suffering a home defeat to Udinese.

Players were in attendance at the Premio Gentleman awards ceremony in Milan this evening and Carlos Augusto was asked who his favourites were for the league.

“Inter, always,” was his response. “Inter must always be the favourites and go into every tournament trying to win it. We didn’t manage to do what we wanted against Udinese, but there are so many games, we need to make a few adjustments.

“We are a family, we stayed united when things didn’t go the way we wanted, and it just gives us even more hunger.”

There is a huge match coming up on Saturday with the Derby d’Italia against Juventus, played at the Allianz Juventus Stadium in Turin.

“Details are going to make the difference against Juventus. We are accustomed to big matches like this, so we are concentrated on what the coach asks of us.”

It is a new campaign with coach Cristian Chivu, who is making changes after so many years of Simone Inzaghi’s very specific approach to the 3-5-2 formation.

Carlos Augusto confessed there are plans afoot to introduce a new system, perhaps starting this weekend.

“There is a project, Chivu asks for something different. I don’t know what he’s planning for the future, but we will do everything we can to help him.”
