Carlos Carvalhal spent two years in charge at Sheffield Wednesday
Sheffield Wednesday will be planning for life in League One this summer following their relegation from the Championship.
Henrik Pedersen’s side endured a difficult year, with off-field issues proving a real challenge to manage on the pitch.
The Owls went into administration in October, and it wasn’t until the final weekend of the campaign that a new owner was officially installed.
Arise Capital will now be looking to restore the Yorkshire outfit to their former glory, but they face a long road ahead of them.
It’s now been nearly a decade since Carlos Carvalhal had the team competing in back-to-back Championship play-offs.
While Sheffield Wednesday missed out on promotion, the Portuguese coach is still remembered fondly by supporters, who will be hoping to get back to that kind of position sooner rather than later under the new owners.

Carvalhal has issued a message to Sheffield Wednesday that is in reference to the Benson Boone song Beautiful Things.
He posted an image of some of his players from his time at Hillsborough celebrating at the Amex after a 1-1 draw secured their place at Wembley Stadium in 2016, as they won the tie 3-1 on aggregate.
“Love and miss all this guys,” he wrote on his Instagram stories.
“Don’t take these beautiful things that I’ve got.
“Please, stay.”
Carvalhal took charge at Hillsborough in the summer of 2015, and he guided the team to the play-offs in his first two campaigns before departing in November 2017 after a poor run of form.
Sheffield Wednesday lost in Wembley Stadium to Hull City in 2016, who now have the chance to repeat that feat against Middlesbrough this weekend.
The Owls could only make the semi-finals a year later, missing out with a defeat on penalties to Huddersfield Town, who went on to win the final again on penalties.
The 60-year-old has worked at a significant number of clubs in his career, but his connection to the Yorkshire outfit remains strong all these years later.
His only other job in English football came at Swansea City, where he oversaw eight wins from 25 games in charge.
Carvalhal has since been manager at Rio Ave, Braga, Al Wahda, Celta Vigo, Olympiacos and then again at Braga, which was his third stint with the Liga NOS side.
The former Sheffield Wednesday boss is currently out of work, departing Braga at the end of last season.

It remains to be seen what next for Carvalhal, who is now out of work for 12 months, but if he ever wanted to return to Sheffield Wednesday then there’s no doubt that supporters would get behind him.
While Henrik Pedersen remains in charge for now, and he is popular among the fans, if that position becomes vacant while the Portuguese is out of work then perhaps a return could be on the cards.
But, for now, those memories of the team’s two play-off pushes will have to do, and they will serve as motivation for the current group to try and get the club back to that kind of position.
It has been 26 years since Sheffield Wednesday last competed in the Premier League, but Arise Capital will have their sights set on ending that absence in the long-run.
