Carlos Vicente has addressed the Valencia move that fell through a few seasons ago.
According to Superdeporte, Valencia had an agreement to sign the winger from Racing de Ferrol for €600,000, his clause, but Peter Lim’s approval never arrived and he grew tired of waiting, instead signing for Alavés. He felt the Basque side needed a player like him.
His time in Vitoria proved fruitful, with 17 goals and 13 assists across 84 games. The returns helped make him one of the crowd favourites.
That spell ended this winter when he was transferred to Birmingham for €8 million.
On Valencia’s interest, he believed the club needed time because it depended on player sales.
