Manchester United have reached an agreement with Atalanta to make midfielder Ederson their first summer signing.
Michael Carrick is closing in on his first signing as permanent manager at Old Trafford, after the Red Devils agreed an initial £35m fee to sign Ederson.
The 26-year-old is set to sign a four-year contract at Manchester United and will add to a midfield group depleted by Casemiro's exit.
According to theBBC, United will pay an initial £35m for the Brazil international, with a potential further £3.9m in add-ons.
Ederson will become the club's first summer signing with United focused on a rebuild in central midfield. Carrick is keen to add at least two new midfielders this summer, as the club prepare to return to the Champions League next season.
Ederson has made 180 appearances for Atalanta across four seasons in Bergamo, and was part of the team that won theEuropa League in 2024.
He has earned three caps for Brazil at international level, but was not included in Carlo Ancelotti's squad for this summer's World Cup.
His omission from the tournament will allow Ederson to link up with United for pre-season, with a packed summer schedule starting with a friendly against Wrexham on July 18th in Finland.
Atalanta had been reluctant to lose Ederson, but the midfielder was due to enter the final 12 months of his contract this summer.
