Barcelona beat Lyon 4-0 in the Champions League final in Oslo on Saturday, then Cata Coll said money does not buy everything, a remark read as a swipe at OL Lyonnes owner Michele Kang. According to Le Progres, Lyon sought to cool the situation.
Coll delivered the line on Catalan television moments after the final whistle, then stood by it in the mixed zone. The Barcelona goalkeeper had produced an excellent display against Lyon.
Her comments were directed without naming Kang, the billionaire owner of OL Lyonnes, amid a rivalry between the clubs that has hardened over recent years.
Lyon executive Vincent Ponsot declined to respond, noting simply that Lyon have won eight Champions Leagues.
Asked about Coll’s words, Wendie Renard said she had no particular reply. She added that many things could be said about Barcelona, but she would not enter their row and the winners should be congratulated. She said that at OL they have always done things properly and worked.
