La Liga outfit Celta Vigo have this week tied up an agreement to add to the club’s defensive ranks for the season ahead. This comes amid the understanding that the Celestes are all set to sign Abdoulaye Faye from Bayer Leverkusen.
Faye, for his part, is a 21-year-old defender, who chiefly lines out in a central role. This past season, the Senegalese spent time out on loan from parent club Bayer, on the books of French side Lorient.
The youngster went on to endure something of a hit-and-miss time of things in Ligue 1, hampered for much of the term by a foot injury. When fit and available, though, Faye featured prominently, racking up 16 league starts all told.
And along the way, the stopper evidently did enough to pique the interest of those in the boardroom at the aforementioned Celta Vigo. As per a report from market insider Matteo Moretto, citing journalist Alberto Bravo:
‘Celta announces the arrival of Abdoulaye Faye, a left-footed center-back from Bayer Leverkusen.’
Official confirmation of the transfer’s completion is expected at any moment.
