Celtic manager Wilfried Nancy spoke to the media on the eve of the match against Roma.
Nancy was appointed as the new coach only a few days ago and has had little time to impose his training regime.
Furthermore, against the Giallorossi, it will be his first time in the competition.
He addressed this very topic in the press conference: “I’m calm. It’s the first match, we’ve had two days to train the team, and what I’ve seen has been really interesting.”
The moment is undoubtedly challenging, but the Scottish team’s coach sees the glass half full: “For me, it’s fantastic, because as a coach, my job is to find solutions. Let’s not forget that there’s already a good foundation: my job is not to change everything, but to add some things, some offensive and defensive nuances.”
“I respect Gasperini. I know what it’s like to experience certain matches.”
As Gasperini himself stated, Celtic Park will have a unique atmosphere. Nancy is ready to prove his worth: “It’s an honor for me to play in the Europa League, but don’t forget that I reached the final of the CONCACAF Champions League. I know very well how to experience certain matches.”
He concluded by speaking about the Giallorossi coach: “Gasperini is a coach I greatly respect for his playing style: he’s a coach I studied many years ago. I’m very excited for my European debut here at home and for this match.”
