As we head towards the summer window, the transfer rumours are starting to pick up pace and expectedly so. Of course, there seems to be a ton of interest in Celtic players as the Hoops close in on another treble. The likes of Daizen Maeda, Nicolas Kuhn and more are being linked with moves away from Parkhead having enjoyed strong seasons.
On the other hand, this could be an interesting summer for the Rangers as well. Especially if their takeover goes through.
That being said, there are some transfer rumours surrounding the Ibrox club that Celtic fans won't expect to materialise. The most recent one involving Hamza Igamane falls under that category. At least not when it comes to the numbers involved.
As reported by TEAMtalk, ‘everyone’ has scouted Igamane this season, with Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, Bayer Leverkusen and Nice all keen. It will take a transfer bid of over £20 million for the Toffees to land his signature.
Now, to be fair, Igamane has had a solid season with the Rangers. He has scored 14 goals for the Ibrox club. But the £20 million transfer fee seems steep to say the very least.
What does that make Maeda's transfer value, as the Japanese international has scored 28 goals so far this season despite having mostly player on the wing? What about Kuhn, who has not only scored and assisted a ton but also against teams like Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig in the Champions League?
If Igamane does leave Ibrox for a £20 million fee that will be good news for Celtic. At the end of the day, the transfer strategy is signing low and transferring high.
This is not the first time that a Rangers player has been linked with a move for an astronomical fee though. Remember Alfredo Morelos? How did that go?
