Celtic interested in signing £1.7m-rated Irish left back | OneFootball

Celtic have reportedly added Dundee United defender Will Ferry to their transfer shortlist. The Scottish Champions are in the market for a new left back to offer cover to Kieran Tierney after a move for Marcelo Saracchi fell through.

According to Record Sport, Celtic view the United standout as a potential signing as they look to bolster their options at left back.

Ferry is wanted by English clubs as well as a Czech club as he enters the final year of his contract. It is expected that £1.7m would be able to secure a deal with United reportedly ready to sell to a Czech side.

The 25-year-old made his debut for Ireland earlier this year and is expected to push on and become a regular ahead of Euro 2028 qualifiers. He will likely relish the opportunity to make the step up and would back himself to challenge KT for the starting slot.

Celtic have made an enquiry about AEK Athens left back James Penrice but it is anticipated that the ex-Hearts defender will cost around £4m. The Scottish Champions had expected to re-sign Marcelo Saracchi after his successful loan spell but reported disagreements between parties led to an impasse.

This is one to watch as it would be a shrewd signing for a quality player.
