The disclosure came after Dalglish accidentally published a social media post containing the news, prompting him to speak publicly and confirm the diagnosis rather than leave it unaddressed. He stressed that the treatment is going well, thanked the medical staff caring for him – calling them “a credit to themselves” – and asked that his family’s privacy be respected.
