Celtic appear to have missed out on Croatian striker Franko Kovacevic. The 26-year-old has scored 25 goals in 28 games for NK Celje, resulting in interest from the Scottish Champions.
Martin O’Neill was asked about the nomadic forward, who is enjoying an incredible goalscoring season but it appears that Celtic have been beaten to his signature by Budapest side Ferencvaros.
Celtic and Polish side Legia Warsaw have been mentioned as potential contenders to bring in the striker. However, it appears that Robbie Keane’s Ferencvaros have secured a deal.
It has been reported that Kovacevic is en route to Budapest with his agent as he looks set to complete his medical before signing a contract.
It has been reported that Celtic were considering the player but there was no formal bid tabled. The former Croatian U21 International has had spells in Cyprus, Germany, USA as well as Croatia but has finally found his scoring tough in Slovenia.
Celtic need to add a couple quality players to the squad, especially with the crucial meeting against Hearts at Tynecastle next weekend.
