Last time Celtic faced Queen’s Park, the Ghirls won 6-0 away from home. Saoirse Noonan got herself a brace, with Colette Cavanagh, Shannon McGregor, Mathilde Carstens and Maria McAneny also finding the net.
This is probably one of the best ties that Celtic could have hoped after their 3-1 victory over Spartans at the weekend. Although some thought the performance was disappointing, the result went the right way for Elena Sadiku’s side on the day, with Grace Courter, Amy Gallacher and Noonan helping the Celtic Ghirls to a comfortable enough victory.

Now, Celtic are the home side for the game against the only remaining SWPL2 side in the competition, so it would be a major shock if the team didn’t make the semi-finals.
Elsewhere in the cup, there will be an Edinburgh derby as Hearts host Hibernian. Glasgow City will take on Aberdeen, with theRangers facing Partick Thistle.
The draw was conducted at Hampden Park, with former Scotland defender Rachel Corsie and SWPL Managing Director Fiona McIntrye making the draw.
Here are the highlights from Celtic FC Women’s round of 16 win away to Spartans on Sunday afternoon.
Meanwhile the match against Spartans at the weekend saw Celtic FC Women captain Kelly Clark make his 350th appearance for the club. After the match she told Celtic TV: “It’s an amazing feeling to make my 350th appearance. It’s a pretty scary number if, I’m being honest.
“On one hand, I don’t feel old enough to have done it, but on the other hand, I feel really old. It’s an amazing landmark to hit and I’m just grateful to get the chance to pull on the jersey that many times and play for this wonderful club. It’s a real honour, and it’s a special day.
“When I first signed, I didn’t really know what I was getting myself in for, I can’t lie. So many years, and appearances later, it’s pretty crazy. It’s been an amazing journey, one that I wouldn’t change very much of. I’m still loving it.

“I absolutely love playing on a Sunday. It’s hard, but it’s just amazing. I’m just so grateful. So many people would dream of playing for Celtic once, and I’m just so fortunate to have done it so many times.”
On the match itself, the Celtic skipper had this to say: “Spartans made it difficult. We didn’t play at the standard that we wanted to play at, but sometimes that happens. The most important thing is that we are in the hat for the next round of the cup.
“We will go in and analyse it. We know we can be better and we set our standards much higher than that. But like I say, the main thing at the end of the day is that we are through to the next round now.’
“Ainslie Park is always a difficult place to come. There has been many a result here in Spartans favour. They feel at home here, and they make it intimidating and they always have done that. I think if you ask anybody in the league when Spartans were in there, if there was an away game that they didn’t particularly enjoy, this would be one of the ones that would come up.
“Like I say, Spartans have made it home. They always play well here and make it difficult for you. So you’ve just got to come here and get a result. In the second half especially, we put in a professional performance and got the job done.”
It’s been a while since Celtic FC Women have done anything in the cup, indeed Elena Sadiku has yet to reach a cup final as the Celtic manager so hopefully that can change in the Sky Sports Cup and it will be even better if they can go on and win the cup.
Next up for the Ghirls is a home match against Motherwell, this Sunday, October 12 (KO: 2pm), at New Douglas Park, Hamilton.
