Cesar Peixoto has contacted Kieran Trippier to underline the right-back remains central to Wolves’ plans following Rob Edwards’ exit.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, Trippier became the club’s first summer signing earlier this month, only days before Edwards was sacked and Peixoto appointed. Edwards helped convince the 35-year-old to drop to the Championship after leaving Newcastle, and while there were suggestions he might reconsider, that always looked unlikely.
It is believed Peixoto has set out his plans to ease any doubts. Trippier is due to report to Compton Park with the squad early next month and, after posting training images from Mallorca on Thursday, is expected to be a key figure in the push for a swift Premier League return.
Peixoto is awaiting a work permit before officially starting, but the 46-year-old has already called senior players to outline his ideas. He views pre-season as crucial to implementing his methods, with Wolves likely to return later than many Championship rivals after finishing their Premier League season in late May.
He met Jackson in Portugal this week to discuss transfer strategy, with outgoings also a focus and several futures unlikely to be settled until after the World Cup. Wolves could also benefit if former winger Chiquinho moves a year after leaving on a free, due to a 50 per cent sell-on, with Alverca believed to want around £8 million.
