Liverpool's team is going to look completely different by the start of the 2026-27 season.
The Anfield outfit may have already spent over £450 million on new players last summer but, most of their signings haven't worked out.
Indeed, the number of injuries that they suffered need to be taken into account but, they should've done much better than just scraping Champions League qualification.
However, that wasn't the case and now, the Reds need to sign at least four or five new players to even become competitive enough to challenge for the title.
But, in order for them to do this, they'll need to sell some of their current squad and now, it seems like Como manager Cesc Fabregas has set his eyes on one Liverpool star in particular.
Federico Chiesa was expected to be one of the bargains of the century when Liverpool signed him for £10 million a couple of years ago.
Sure, he had his fair share of injuries before leaving Juventus which is why he was moved on so cheaply but, most people thought that he'd hit the ground running and actually help his team out.
However, that hasn't been the case with Arne Slot often leaving him out of his plans and failing to give him a chance to prove his worth.
So, due to his lack of playing time, the Italy international has been linked with several moves away from Anfield and now, a fresh update has been shared about his future.
"Big changes are in the air at Liverpool : after two years with Arne Slot on the bench, the Reds could start a new cycle by letting several players leave, including one who already in the last few transfer sessions seemed very close to leaving Anfield: Federico Chiesa," Cronache di Spogliatoio wrote in quotes relayed by Calcio Mercato.
"As reported by Cronache di Spogliatoio , Como has shown real interest in him and needs to revamp its squad, bringing it decidedly towards a more Italian spirit."
In the few games that Chiesa has played during his two years with Liverpool, there have been moments when flashes of the old Chiesa have emerged.
The fact that he can play anywhere across the front three is a massive selling point and is probably one of the main reasons why he's been kept around.
In fact, his performances have even been described as "beautiful" in the past which proves how good he can be.
And, now that Mohamed Salah is leaving, it's unclear who's going to take over as the Egyptian Kings successor.
Several new players have been linked with an Anfield switch already but, since the Reds have so many areas of their team that need upgrading, Chiesa could end up being kept around to fill the gap.
This is all just speculation at the moment and, until Liverpool's next manager is announced, it's unclear what the future holds for any of their players.
In all honesty, the 2026-27 season is gearing up to be an exciting one for fans and, since Curtis Jones may have already changed his mind about exiting, Chiesa could do the same and perhaps be given an actual chance by his new manager.
