Chad 'Ochocinco' Johnson marked his Brazil visit by wearing vintage football shirts, from Grêmio to defunct Novorizontino, across the ground and his show.
According to Globo.com, he arrived at Allianz Parque on Sunday for the Kings League final in a 1999 Grêmio shirt associated with Ronaldinho Gaúcho. It was in that kit that a young Ronaldinho strung together sombreros on Dunga in the 1999 state final, which Grêmio won.
In Brazil, simply wearing a shirt once used by Ronaldinho is enough to earn the rolê aleatório tag, and Johnson did just that.
Now an NFL commentator, he co-hosts YouTube show Nightcap with Shannon Sharpe. Later on Sunday he went on air in a Grêmio Esportivo Novorizontino shirt, the now defunct club who reached the 1990 Paulista final caipira that Bragantino won.
Johnson, a former Cincinnati Bengals receiver who led the league in receiving yards in 2006, has long declared his love for the beautiful game. On this trip he met Ronaldo and Neymar, then said on social media that the encounter surpassed his draft day and left him feeling like a child, hard to describe.
