The Champions League last-16 draw has delivered heavyweight assignments for English sides, with Man City to face Real Madrid and Chelsea handed holders Paris Saint-Germain.
According to Goal.com, Newcastle will meet Barcelona, Arsenal take on Bayer Leverkusen, Liverpool face Galatasaray and Tottenham were drawn with Atletico Madrid.
Manchester City have crossed paths with Real Madrid frequently, including a 2-1 league-phase win at the Santiago Bernabeu, and the clubs have met in five straight European campaigns.
Newcastle have history with Barcelona, with Faustino Asprilla’s hat-trick long remembered on Tyneside, while Chelsea beat PSG in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup final.
Liverpool have already lost to Galatasaray this season and will travel to Istanbul again. Arsenal are set to face Leverkusen for the first time since 2002.
Tottenham remain under pressure in the Premier League, but the Champions League has offered respite and a shot at Atletico. Harry Kane is hoping to help Bayern Munich past Atalanta, the last remaining Italian side in this year’s competition.
Last season’s beaten finalists Inter were eliminated by surprise package Bodo/Glimt in the play-offs, with Norwegian football celebrating a first Champions League knockout-stage win.
The first legs are scheduled for March 10 and 11, with returns on March 17 and 18. Seeded teams will host the second legs.
