Ademola Lookman's nightmare with Atalanta Bergamo

Ademola Lookman's situation at Atalanta Bergamo is becoming increasingly concerning. Despite his return to training, the Nigerian has yet to play a single minute in competition.
The Nigerian international (29 caps, 8 goals) is not part of the Atalanta Bergamo squad for the trip to Parc des Princes, tonight at 7pm GMT in the Champions League. Under contract until June 2027, he pushed hard this summer to force a move to Inter Milan.
The former RB Leipzig striker boycotted training for almost a month and did not join his teammates for pre-season preparations. As a result, Ivan Juric has yet to call him up, despite his return to work at Zingonia.
More than just a lost standoff
The club's standout player, the London-born forward has lost more than just a battle of wills. He no longer has the trust of the management or his coach, who declared: "I have a very good relationship with him, but I don't have to beg him to play. It's the other way around: we are Atalanta and we represent the city. We're all convinced that Atalanta needs strong human values."
This statement speaks volumes about what is expected from the Super Eagles striker. Unless there is a dramatic turn of events, he is unlikely to play for the Nerazzurri again and could be sidelined until winter or even next summer.
