Joao Felix has barely got his feet under the table at AC Milan, but he’s already been a great fit, as we predicted. The slower pace in Italy suits him, and a team which is set up pretty solidly but lacked a bit of magic was the perfect platform for him.
That’s great news for Chelsea, let’s face it. The club’s intention is to try and sell him in the summer, and they can only do that if he does well. So far, so good. He scored on his debut, impressed in his second game against Empoli, and has since started two more games. Tonight, the Rossoneri are playing the second leg of their Champions League playoff against Feyenoord, looking to overturn a 1-0 first leg deficit. If they are to do that, Felix will likely have to play a big part.
Chelsea fans who want the club to sell Felix and move on will be watching and hoping he does well.
Joao Felix speaks in an AC Milan press conference.
Just a few days after the window closed two weeks ago there was already talk about how the Italian side could potentially make a permanent deal work.
The suggestion was that, after so much business back and forth between the two clubs (basically Chelsea selling Milan unwanted players for a good price) they were pretty “friendly” and could figure out a deal.
The figures put up then were that a permanent deal could be arranged for summer 2026 at a cost of €31.2m, which would allow Chelsea to not make a loss, while still being affordable for Milan. That would follow on from a full season on loan, with a fee. The more he scores, the more likely that looks.
