Chance to go top is perfect title incentive, says Nico

Nico says the chance to have the destiny of the Premier League title race in our own hands is all the incentive City need ahead of Wednesday’s trip to Burnley.
In the wake of Sunday’s eventful 2-1 win against leaders Arsenal, second-placed City are now just three points behind the Gunners and with a game in hand.
The mathematics mean that should Pep Guardiola’s side beat the Clarets by two goals or more we would go top of the table for the first time in more than 200 days.
And for Nico, that’s a scenario City would have gladly signed up for back in August at the outset of the campaign.
“It depends on us,” the holding midfielder declared.
“It was hard to think a few weeks ago about this position.
“If you said at the beginning of the season, we had the chance to be first with five games left, we would have all signed it.
“It’s amazing – we can see it’s close, but we have to focus on Burnley.
“We will see what happens and take it game by game.
“We are really happy about the job we are doing. It is 50/50.
“It’s going to be a nice race until the end. I really trust my team and I’m happy we are in this position.”
Whilst City have the incentive of seeking to rise to the summit, Burnley know defeat would condemn them to relegation, 12 months after their return to the topflight.
But with Scott Parker’s side fighting to avoid the drop, Nico says City are braced for the toughest of tests in East Lancashire.
“It’s going to be a really hard match – especially playing away – I’m pretty sure they [Burnley] will give everything,” Nico added.
“It’s always really hard in the Premier League. We have to focus on ourselves.
“It’s important we do the same things as we have been doing the last few games.
“If we keep working hard and playing as well as we have been doing, we have a really good chance to win.”
Pep Guardiola’s brilliant Blues are on the hunt for yet more silverware under Wembley’s famous arch.
We return to the national stadium on Saturday 25 April in a 17:15 (UK) kick-off for our FA Cup semi-final with Southampton.
And Members can be there with prices starting from £30 for adults and £20 for U18s and over 65s.
As we’ve seen with other recent Wembley visits, it’s an occasion not to be missed!
