Charles stresses importance of away win over Vitória in Brasileirão

On the afternoon of this Saturday, October 25, Corinthians visited Vitória at the Barradão Stadium in a match valid for the 30th round of the Brazilian Championship and won by a score of 1 x 0. The Corinthians goal was scored by midfielder Charles. With the result, the Alvinegro temporarily rises to ninth place with 39 points (10 wins, nine draws, and 11 losses – 32 goals scored and 35 conceded).

Right after the end of the match, midfielder Charles, the goal scorer, gave an exclusive interview to Premiere and analyzed the three points, as well as the importance of the team achieving a sequence of victories until the end of the national competition – to finish in the highest position possible.

“Playing here is always difficult, right? We knew it was going to be a tough game, a game of a lot of struggle, a lot of duels. So, I'm happy to have come in today and scored. I needed that goal for a while now. So, happy to score, to help the club. An important victory for this championship, two wins in a row. Playing here is not easy either, so happy for the goal, for the victory. I think we fought a lot,” he began.

He continued: “We've been talking a lot about this (sequence of victories), about this field energy, about this duel, having more sequence, maintaining regularity. So, I think since the last match we've been talking a lot about this. I hope now we can get these victories to keep climbing the table,” he said.

The goal was Charles' second with the Corinthians jersey, the first in the 2025 season. The first was in the last round of the 2024 Brazilian Championship, when the Alvinegro defeated Grêmio 3 x 0 away from home. Since his arrival at Parque São Jorge in the middle of last year, he has played 56 games (28 as a starter), with 30 wins, 19 draws, and seven losses – a 64% success rate.

The number 35 also has one assist with the Corinthians jersey, and was part of the 2025 Paulista Championship victory against Palmeiras in Itaquera.

After facing Vitória away from home in the Brazilian Championship, Corinthians remains focused on the national competition. In the next round, on November 2, at 4 p.m., the Alvinegro hosts Grêmio at the Neo Química Arena for the 31st round of the national competition.
