Charlton defender Kayne Ramsay is attracting transfer interest from clubs in England and abroad, with Torino known to be admirers.

Charlton Athletic are preparing for a second consecutive season in the Championship, as they look to keep building on the impressive work Nathan Jones has done since his appointment.

The Addicks ultimately finished six points above the bottom three, but they were nervously looking over their shoulders at times in the campaign.

Therefore, the aim this time around will be to ensure they aren’t dragged into a relegation battle, and, to do that, Jones knows he will need to strengthen.

The 25-year-old has been a key figure for the club in the past two years, as he featured regularly for Jones as the team won promotion, and he made 37 appearances in the Championship last season.

But it appears his future at Charlton is uncertain, as The Sun has claimed that Torino are interested in the former Southampton man.

As well as that, the update states other unnamed clubs abroad and in England are tracking Ramsay, who has entered the final 12 months of his contract with Charlton.

Obviously, the contract issue puts Charlton in a very difficult situation going into the window, as they won’t want to lose Ramsay on a free in 12 months time.

Plus, Torino’s interest is far from ideal, as the Italians, along with other foreign clubs, know they can agree pre-contract terms with Ramsay in January.

So, that weakens Charlton’s hand when it comes to negotiations, although it’s worth stating that the player is well within his rights to assess all his options.

But, the Addicks will want a quick resolution, as if it drags on it just creates more uncertainty for the club, and it could leave them in a tough spot if Ramsay moves late in the window if they don’t have a replacement lined up.

In an ideal world, Charlton would secure the player on a new contract, and that would be a real coup for the club given his performances since he joined.

Yet, the reality is that the chance to move to Turin to play in Serie A will hold great appeal to the 25-year-old, and it’s also said that other clubs are keen.

If Ramsay is to move on, Jones will be in the market for a new right-back, and you would imagine that the recruitment team are already drawing up a list of potential replacements.

Should a move go through, it’s about getting the best possible fee for the Addicks, and then they must back Jones in the market.

Even though they have done some decent business so far in the window, it still feels like Charlton are lacking in many key areas, and it will be interesting to see what the XI looks like when the new season starts at home to Derby for Jones’ men on August 15.
