The 20-year-old could benefit from a full season of first-team football in League One.
Charlton Athletic should consider sending Nathan Asiimwe on loan to a League One club ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The right-back gained experience in the National League with Hartlepool United and in League Two with Walsall during loan spells last season, while he has also played League One football for Charlton in his short career so far.
Asiimwe is still only 20-years-old and has featured regularly for the Addicks in pre-season so far this summer, but with Nathan Jones looking set to add another right-sided defender before the end of the transfer window, the youngster could find himself down the pecking order by the time the Championship season gets underway next month.
Charlton had a £1 million bid rejected for Hibernian defender Lewis Miller midway through July, before they also failed with an attempt to sign Japanese full-back Shinnosuke Fukuda from J1 League side Kyoto Sanga on loan with an option to buy.
Wolverhampton Wanderers wing-back Dexter Lembikisa is currently on trial with the Addicks, so it could be only a matter of time before Jones adds another player to his squad in Asiimwe's position.
Therefore, it would seemingly be beneficial for all parties if the Charlton academy graduate spent next season on loan in League One, and there are a few clubs who could benefit from signing him on a temporary basis.
Newly-promoted League One side Bradford City could consider making a move to sign Asiimwe on loan this summer as they prepare for life back in the third tier.
The 20-year-old would give Graham Alexander the option of having some added athleticism on the right-hand side of the pitch, and he would also give Brad Halliday, who played the majority of games in League Two last term, some healthy competition.
A loan move to Bradford would give Asiimwe the opportunity to show that he is ready for regular football at a higher level than he performed at last season, while it would also give the Bantams a promising young player with experience of playing in front of a big stadium in League One.
Exeter City are another club that could benefit from taking Asiimwe on a season-long loan this summer, with the defender likely ready to make the step-up to the third tier for his next loan spell.
He would give Gary Caldwell a slightly different option compared to Jack McMillan, who featured regularly on the right-hand side of defence for the Grecians during the 2024/25 campaign.
Asiimwe has a physical presence and likes to get forward, which could suit Exeter during games in which they have less of the ball and want to counter-attack, while his technical ability also makes him suitable for possession-based play.
Asiimwe could also benefit from a loan spell at Burton Albion next term, with the Brewers looking to build on their improved performances under Gary Bowyer during the second half of last season.
The 20-year-old would give Burton another option at right wing-back, and the experience he has gained during his short career so far combined with his energetic playing style could make him a valuable addition.
