The young Bees produced a spirited display to share the points in a 3-3 draw against Charlton Athletic on Saturday morning in the U18s Professional Development League.

Goals from Yerime Ouattara, Michel Boni, and a late effort by Beau Redknapp showcased Brentford’s resilience as they battled to secure a valuable point.

Samuel Washington-Amoah opened the scoring early on for the table-toppers as he pounced on a loose clearance in the box to sweep past Connor Wolfheimer.

Wolfheimer was called into action soon after and made the needed stop to deny Ellis McMillan's firm shot from distance.

McMillan was not going to be denied a second time though as he picked up the ball from midfield, drove towards the away side's defence and then placed expertly into the corner of the net.

Brentford remained confident on the ball and on 25 minutes, Ouattara smashed into the top corner of the net from distance to halve the deficit.

The goal gave the west Londoners renewed confidence and following a perfect through ball from Luka Bentt, Boni was fouled in the box with the referee awarding a penalty. Boni stepped up to take the penalty and dispatched well, sending the keeper the wrong way.

In the second period, the young Addicks took the lead again, this time through Shia-Lee Burnham who did well to roll his defender before placing his shot past Wolfheimer.

The young Bees pushed for an equaliser and in the last minute of the game it was Redknapp who stepped up, beating two defenders with fine pieces of skill, before playing a one-two with Jovan Kasujja and then sliding past Finley Woodham in the Charlton net.

That was how the game would end as both sides would have to share the points.

The young Bees are next in action on Friday 7 November as they take on Watford back at Jersey Road.
