Chelsea and Como reach €30m agreement for Trevoh Chalobah | OneFootball

Serie A side Como have reached a full agreement with Chelsea to sign central defender Trevoh Chalobah. Xabi Alonso is at Stamford Bridge.

According to transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano, a deal is now firmly in place for an initial €30 million plus €6m in add-ons.

The 27-year-old English defender had already agreed long-term personal terms with Como several weeks ago, leaving the formal club agreement as the final major hurdle in completing the high-profile transfer.

Chalobah, an academy graduate who rose through the ranks at Cobham before establishing himself in Chelsea’s first-team squad, had found himself out of favour at Stamford Bridge in recent months.

Despite demonstrating versatility and strong defensive qualities across several Premier League campaigns, Chelsea’s ongoing squad restructuring left the defender seeking a fresh challenge where he could secure regular first-team football.

Como identified Chalobah early in the window as their primary target to anchor their defence. The Italian club moved quickly to negotiate terms with the player’s representatives, securing the defender’s commitment weeks ago before finalising a deal with Chelsea’s board.

For Chelsea, the sale represents significant pure profit under financial fair play regulations, given Chalobah’s status as a home-grown player.

For Como, acquiring a Premier League-proven centre-back is a clear statement of intent. Chalobah’s arrival brings leadership and physical presence to their backline as they prepare for their first Champions League campaign.

With a full agreement between the clubs and long-term personal terms finalised, Chalobah is expected to travel to Italy shortly to undergo a medical and sign his contract.

More defensive departures are expected at Stamford Bridge with Axel Disasi wanted by Crystal Palace, while Benoit Badiashile is a target for both Napoli and Juventus.
