In a recent report, The Express stated that Chelsea are facing stiff competition for Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson. It has been claimed that the Blues would have to rival Manchester City in the race to acquire the services of the English talent next year.

Anderson’s Impressive Form In The Premier League

Anderson is having a decent campaign at the Midlands club as he has been responsible for producing a string of impressive displays for them at the centre of the park. The 22-year-old has picked up one assist in nine appearances for Nottingham this season across various competitions.

The English midfielder has offered solid protection for his teammates at the back and has done well to make 21 tackles, 10 blocks, five interceptions and eight clearances in the Premier League. He has even distributed the ball accurately from midfield after completing 85.5% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via fbref.com).

Anderson’s current contract at the City Ground will run out in the summer of 2029. Therefore, the Blues would have to make a big offer if they want to bring him to Stamford Bridge next year.

Chelsea Are Facing Stiff Competition For Anderson: Is He Worth The Fight?

Anderson is a good tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually clears the danger when required and is a tidy passer of the ball as well.

The English sensation can even create the odd chance for his teammates in the final third. He is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also fill in as an attacking midfielder or as a left-winger if asked to do so.

Anderson is quite familiar with the Premier League and won’t take much time to adjust to life at the West London club. We can expect him to bring more quality and depth to Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca’s midfield.

At 22, Anderson has the potential to be a world-class player in his position someday. Therefore, he would be well worth the fight. All in all, the West London club would be wise to try everything they can to get him on board this winter or at the end of this campaign.
