In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Chelsea are facing stiff competition for Real Madrid forward Rodrygo. It is understood that the Blues would have to compete with Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign the Brazilian talent next year.

Rodrygo’s Impressive Form In La Liga

Rodrygo has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot at the Madrid club this season. The Brazilian talent has picked up a couple of assists in 16 appearances for Los Blancos in this campaign so far across multiple competitions.

The 24-year-old has been a decent contributor in the final third as he is averaging 3.87 shots per 90 minutes in La Liga. He has kept 40% of his attempts on target. Rodrygo has also been accurate when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half, based on his pass completion rate of 83.8% in the Spanish first division (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Madrid club will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it tough for the Blues to sign him on a cut-price deal next year.

Should Chelsea Boss Enzo Maresca Snap Rodrygo Up?

Rodrygo is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and can create a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has also got the eye to create some promising chances for his teammates to find the back of the net.

The Brazilian sensation is primarily a right-winger but can also serve as a left-sided wide player or as a centre-forward if told to do so. However, there are some question marks over whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League.

Rodrygo would no doubt inject a lot of quality into Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca’s frontline. He has what it takes to compete for a regular starting spot at Stamford Bridge in the coming years.

At 24, Rodrygo has his best years ahead of him, which makes him a good choice for the Blues to consider this winter or at the end of this campaign. However, Maresca has to give him some time to settle into life in England before he can unlock the best out of the player.
