In a recent report, Marca mentioned that Chelsea are set to rival Manchester United for Real Sociedad winger Ander Barrenetxea. It has been revealed that the Blues are in the running to sign the Spanish wide player in this summer transfer window.
Barrenetxea has enjoyed a good run of form at the Spanish club as he has put in a run of impressive displays for them in the final third. The 24-year-old has scored four times and earned five assists in 33 matches for Real Sociedad this season across various competitions.
The Spanish talent is currently among the most talented wingers in La Liga. Hence, the Blues would do well to lure him to Stamford Bridge in this summer transfer window.
His current contract at Real Sociedad will expire in the summer of 2030, which could make it tough for Chelsea to sign him on a cut-price deal later this year.

Barrenetxea is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the eye to play some decisive passes in and around the opponent’s penalty area. He can shoot the ball with power from long range and can contribute by scoring and creating a handful of important goals for his team on the offensive end of the field.
The Spanish sensation is primarily a left-winger but can also fill in as a right-sided wide player if told to do so by his manager. However, there are some question marks over whether he can cope with the physicality and high intensity of the Premier League if the Blues manage to bring him on board this off-season.
We can expect Barrenetxea to bring more quality and energy to Chelsea‘s frontline. He is more than capable of earning a regular first-team spot at the West London club in the coming years.
At 24, Barrenetxea has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent choice for the Blues to pursue at the end of this campaign. However, Chelsea have to give him some time to adjust to life in England before they can get the best out of him later this year.
