Chelsea complete Valentin Barco signing | OneFootball

Chelsea have announced the signing of Valentin Barco from French side Strasbourg.

The versatile Argentina international has signed a seven-year deal with the West Londoners, and will link up with Xabi Alonso’s side in Asia for their pre-season tour.

Barco returns to the Premier League after a short spell at Brighton earlier in his career, before a breakout season at Strasbourg in 2025/26.

The 23-year-old led all Ligue 1 midfielders for completed through balls and passes into the penalty box last season, as Strasbourg secured an eighth-place finish.

He ended the campaign with 12 goals in 43 games to earn a place in the Argentina squad for the 2026 World Cup, as the South Americans reached the final.

Barco can operate at left-back, left midfield, or in central midfield and becomes Chelsea’s latest summer signing, following deals for Geovany Quenda, Marco Palestra, Morgan Rogers, and Danny Welbeck. Chelsea are also set to sign Jordan Henderson on a free transfer after the veteran midfielder left Brentford..
