Chelsea concede defeat in pursuit of Morgan Rogers | OneFootball

The Athletic claim that Chelsea have given up on their pursuit of the Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers, acknowledging that several other top clubs are also interested in signing him.

Chelsea are also not ready to pay Villa’s reported £130 million asking price.

The Blues had identified Rogers as a key target to strengthen their left wing, but are now expected to pursue alternative options.

The 23-year-old has several admirers across Europe, including Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.

Chelsea could turn to Crysencio Summerville

Chelsea lacked quality on the left flank last season, with Jamie Gittens, Pedro and Alejandro Garnacho all struggling. The trio registered just six Premier League goals between them.

They are already willing to listen to offers for Garnacho, which could create room for another left-sided forward.

With Rogers seemingly out of reach, Chelsea could now turn to West Ham United’s Crysencio Summerville.

The west London side are reportedly interested in Summerville, but face competition from Arsenal, Man United, Liverpool, Tottenham and Aston Villa.

West Ham are open to selling Summerville to raised funds after their relegation to the Championship. They value him at around £50 million.

Summerville scored five goals and provided four assists in 31 Premier League games, ranking second in the Hammers’ squad for league goal involvements.

He impressed for the Netherlands at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, chipping in with two goals and two assists.

Summerville has the technical quality and directness to thrive under Alonso, but he needs to improve his defensive contribution and discipline to nail a starting berth.
